Court Recesses Until Next Week District Court has been recessed until 9 a.m., June 22.

The recess was announced by Judge C. R. Mclntosh who said he has been called to sit In with the Supreme Court on the case of L. D. Nelson vs.

Emello Naranjo, sheriff of Rio Ariba County. Judge Paul F. Larazolo of the Second Judicial District will hear the case of Baca vs. Johnson at the Taos County courthouse, Aug. 18-19.

The defendants, Sidney and Clinton Johnson, are alleged by the plaintiffs, the North Side Acequia and So. Side Acequia of Rio de Don Fernando de Taos of diverting water from Canon residents by building dams to trap the water for irrigation purposes and to stock fish. The Johnsons claim that the springs which feed the dams originate upon their property and that they own a water right therein. They deny that the dams were constructed for irrigation purposes but to control erosion and stock fish. Jury trials in Taos County have been recessed until 9 a.m., Aug.

24. Clarence Edwin Dwyer of Las Cruces pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy this week before District Judge C. R. Mc- lntosh, who sentenced him to a term of one to five years in the state penitentiary. Dwyer was also ordered to receive psychiatric treatment at the state hospital in Las Vegas, with the length of his stay at the hospital being deducted from his prison term.

Dwyer had been charged with having married Maria (Toni) Barela of Ranches on Dec. 31, 1962, although he had still been married to his first wife, Josephine Dwyer, who had been liv- ing with her husband's two children in Las Cruces. On July 8, 1963 Dwyer had waived preliminary hearing before Justice of Peace Filemon Sanchez and had been bounc over to district court. Bond had been set at $1,000. Also this week a district court jury found Manuel Antonio Mar tinez of Arrdyo Hondo not guilty of unlawfully branding or mark ing a heifer owned by Melecio Rael; and also found George Romero of Llano Quemado no guilty of unlawfully branding four head of sheep owned by Luis Torres.

Both men were defended, in separate cases, by Attorney Eliu Romero. Judge Mclntosh has ordered hearing to determine whether or not an auction should be held to dispose of merchandise of Blue Lake Sporting Goods Company, now in the hands of a receiver. An application has been received from John Overton of Albuquerque to conduct the auc tion for a fee of 10 per cent of the proceeds plus an additional sum of up to 10 per cent for expenses. Date for the hearing has not yet been scheduled. The hearing on a temporary restraining order against city to prevent enforcement of the ordinance to remove certain parking meters on North and South Pueblo Streets has been set for 9 a.m., Monday, June 22.

Commenting on the petition presented by a number of Taos residents doing business on Pueblo Street, City Attorney Cliu Romero stated: "Either a city has a right to govern its streets, parking and all public property or there will be complete chaos."
